The event Legacies of 1919: The Bughouse Square Debates were held on Saturday July 27, 2019 at the Newberry Library. The Bughouse Square Debates are an annual public forum and celebration of free speech. Chicago residents from all walks of life can make 10-minute soapbox speeches about racism, #MeToo, the first amendment, or anything else. The campion soapboxer receives the Dill Pickle Award.
