Midewewin Lodge

Man speaking Ojibwa:

A young boy became very ill and death seemed certain. An old man gathered the women of the village and said, "You symbolize the life-giving force of the earth. Build a lodge where I will do a ceremony to ask that this boy be given continued life." This was the origin of the Midewiwin Lodge. As the Midewiwin developed, so did the people develop, both physically and spiritually. Life became a song and prayer again.
